He is responsible for driving corporate strategy, value growth and expansion of the chain across India and strengthening the international presence of the group hospitals. In his career spanning 18 years at the group, he has advanced through a series of leadership roles. Besides serving on the company’s board, he also serves on the advisory board of Harvard Medical International. He has recently been nominated as Indian Healthcare Leader of the year by Express Healthcare He received his BS and MBA from Bombay University.

He has published numerous scientific articles and has given scores of presentations to both members of the medical community and leaders in the healthcare management sector. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Tufts University and a Medical Doctorate from the State University of New York-Downstate. He received his radiology training at the University of Michigan and fellowship in pediatric neuroradiology at the Hospital for Sick
Children in Toronto. He is a member of the American College of Radiology.

David Boucher is responsible for Companion Global Healthcare, and leads in the US insurance movement to promote medical tourism. He has recently made deals with hospitals in Asia, Europe, and Latin America to make them part of Companion's network. He previously was CEO of North and South Carolina facilities of Quorum Health Resources hospitals. He earned a BS in Community Health Administration at Slippery Rock State University (PA) and a Master of Public Health in Administration at the University of South Carolina. He has been quoted in more than 200 major business and consumer publications as well as NBC Nightly News.

David Brailer was our nation’s first National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (2004-2007), during which time he was voted "Most Powerful Person in Healthcare" by the readers of Modern Healthcare. He left the public sector to found and become chairman of Health Evolution Partners, a private equity fund focused on transforming the healthcare industry. The company finances innovative ways for healthcare to be financed, organized and delivered. He was previously founder, chairman and CEO of CareScience, Inc., the first healthcare Internet-based application service provider and the first health information exchange. He earned his MD from West Virginia University and his PhD in economics from The Wharton School.

Sarah Cairns-Smith received her PhD in Biochemistry from the Imperial Cancer Research Fund, London. She was a post-doctoral research scientist with a Muscular Dystrophy Association fellowship in the Center for Neurobiology at Columbia University. She then completed the MBA program at Columbia Business School (Distinction) and during this period she worked as an investment manager in venture capital with Schroder Ventures/Collinson Howe Lennox. Since joining The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) in 1996, she has worked primarily in drug R&D for biopharmaceutical companies and foundations. She has been based in the Boston and Paris offices. She is also a member of BCG’s global health leadership team.

David Cerino is responsible for the ongoing evolution of Microsoft HealthVault, a simple, security-enhanced platform that enables people to gather, manage and share their personal health information. Previoiusly, he served as chief marketing and product officer at Farelogix Inc., where he led development and execution of global marketing and product strategy for the company’s travel-industry technology. Before that, he was vice president and general manager at Orbitz LLC and led the corporate travel unit, Orbitz for Business. He holds an MBA from Florida Atlantic University, and a BS in mathematics and computer science from Wake Forest University in North Carolina.

George Church has been an advisor to nearly two dozen companies, and is a co-founder of Knome, a personal genomics company. He completed his PhD at Harvard in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology with Walter Gilbert, developing the first direct genomic sequencing method in 1984. He co-initiated the Human Genome Project a few months later as a postdoctoral fellow at Biogen and UCSF. Innovations include molecular multiplexing and tags, homologous recombination methods, array DNA synthesizers and automated sequencing and software (used at Genome Therapeutics Corp. for the first commercial genome sequence — human pathogen, H. pylori, 1994). Current research focuses on the Personal Genome Project and synthetic biology.

Avery Comarow has directed the “America's Best Hospitals” annual rankings since their debut in 1990 and last year oversaw the launch of the companion “America’s Best Children’s Hospitals” annual rankings. He has visited hospitals in India and Singapore for a cover story on medical travel. As a reporter, his special interests include medical quality and safety, epidemiology, and the flood of health information, not all of it credible, that threatens to drown patients in confusion. Science 80-86, Consumer Reports and Money magazine have been among his employers in 40 years of reporting and editing. He is on the board of advisors of the graduate science writing program at the University of California-Santa Cruz.

Prior to his current positions, he held senior positions with KPMG, LLP, Rhode Island Hospital, and McLean Hospital. He serves on the Board of the Austen Riggs Center, a national renowned psychiatric hospital located in western Massachusetts.

Deborah Dunsire joined Millennium in 2005 with nearly 20 years of experience in commercial, operational, clinical and scientific aspects of a world-leading pharmaceutical business. Previously, she led the Novartis US Oncology business, managing 12 product launches and building the business from about $50 million to $2.1 billion in revenues over 10 years. She managed the merger of the Sandoz Pharmaceuticals and Ciba-Geigy oncology businesses. Earlier, as a clinical researcher, she was responsible for the implementation of global Phase II and Phase III studies across multiple therapeutic areas including immunology, endocrinology, neurology, dermatology, oncology and transplantation. She received her MD from the University of Witwatersand in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Beatrice Ellerin, known as Bunny, is a Managing Director in the New York office of Interbrand Wood, the leading global brand consultancy focused exclusively on the healthcare industry. She leads the research division and is responsible for operational performance, business development, client management and staffing. She is also spearheading the firm’s efforts in the Health 2.0 space and recently launched the Pharma 2.0 Blog to track industry trends. Previously, she worked with a number of entrepreneurial, high growth healthcare companies including post-market surveillance company Clinsights, acquired by PPD, Inc. (NASDAQ: PPDI) in 2003, where she was Executive Vice President. She received a BA in Political Science from Columbia University. As Chairman, Founder and past President of HBS Health, she led the group's growth into a major HBS alumni association.

Jeffrey Flier, an endocrinologist and authority on the molecular causes of obesity and diabetes, was one of the first to demonstrate that diet-induced obesity in rodents is associated with increased leptin expression. His proposal that leptin serves as a switch from the fed to the starved state has fundamentally shaped the discourse of the field. A member of the HMS faculty since 1978, he was most recently chief academic officer of the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC), one of Harvard’s leading affiliated hospitals. He has authored over 200 scholarly papers and reviews. He holds a BS from the City College of New York and an MD from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine.

David Green is Co-Founder, President and a Director of Harvard Bioscience, named one of America’s Top 25 Fastest Growing Technology Companies in 2005 by Forbes Magazine. Harvard Bioscience’s products are used to advance life science research at virtually all pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies and research universities worldwide. Previously, he was a strategy consultant with Monitor Company, where his work advising the South African government received international media coverage. Before that, he was a brand manager at Lever Brothers (Unilever). He graduated with honors in physics from Oxford University, and received his Harvard MBA with distinction. He is a co-inventor on the patent Photoacoustic Spectroscopy Sample Array Vessel.

He also served as an executive at Cycare, which grew into a NYSE company and was later sold to McKesson. He serves on a number of boards, is involved in various industry associations. From 1987 to 2001, he was a co-founder and a Managing Partner of The Center for Executive Development, an executive education and development consulting firm. An investor and entrepreneur, he participated as a principal, director, and investor in the founding and early stages of over 20 organizations. He has served on the editorial board of the Harvard Business Review. He received his BA from the University of California, and his MBA and DBA from HBS.

Regina Herzlinger was the first woman to be tenured and chaired at HBS. Among her many bestselling books is her latest, Who Killed Health Care? (NY: McGraw-Hill, 2007). She has served on the Scientific Advisory Group to the U.S. Secretary of the Air Force and as a board member of many private and publicly-traded firms. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from MIT and her Doctorate from HBS.

Jamie Heywood co-founded PatientsLikeMe, a personalized research platform for patients, pharmaceutical and biotech companies as well as non-profits to better understand disease, improve care and accelerate the development of new treatments and biomarkers. He is the d’Arbeloff founding director of ALS Therapy Development Institute, the world’s first non-profit biotechnology company and served as its CEO from 1999 to 2007. An MIT engineer, he entered the field of translational research when his brother Stephen was diagnosed with ALS in 1998 at the age of 29. His work has been profiled in the New Yorker, 60 Minutes, Pulitzer Prize winner Jonathan Wiener’s book, His Brothers Keeper, and in the Sundance award winning documentary So Much So Fast.

Bob Higgins co-created and teaches Entrepreneurship and Venture Capital in Health Care. He is a member of the Health Care Initiative, the Social Enterprise Initiative, and the Harvard Faculty Committee for the MD/MBA program. He founded Highland Capital Partners, a venture capital firm managing over $3.0 billion in assets from university endowments, pension funds, families, and corporations. He has been an investor in venture capital for over 25 years. Earlier, he was the Executive Director of the John A. Hartford Foundation in New York, a private foundation supporting medical research and health care management. From 1971 to 1973, he was the Assistant to the head of the International Division of the Treasury and as Assistant to the Secretary of Commerce. He is a graduate of Harvard College and HBS.

Whole Health provided integrated health services including occupational, preventive, urgent and primary health care services. Clients include Sprint, Qualcomm, Florida Power & Light, Continental Airlines and Harrah’s Entertainment. Before that, he co-founded and was president of the Ivy Medical Group, an ambulatory health care company. Previously, he was Director of Planning and Human Resources at Martin Marietta Corporation’s Chemical Group. Earlier, he was with Deloitte, Haskins & Sells. He holds a BA in accounting from the University of Notre Dame and his MBA from Harvard.

Wolfgang Klietmann heads an international healthcare consulting company and is an appointed Lecturer in Pathology at Harvard Medical School. Previously on staff of the Department of Pathology at Massachusetts General Hospital, he also performed research as an Associate Scientist at the Wistar Institute of the University of Pennsylvania, headed a research group at the Max-Planck-Institute for Virus Research, and served on the medical faculty of the University of Tuebingen. He was Founder and Physician-in-Chief of a leading Institute of Laboratory Medicine in Germany. He received his medical education at the University of Freiburg (Germany), and at the Sorbonne and the University of Paris Medical School (France). He is a Fellow of the College of American Pathologists. He was recently elected Co-Chair of the Community Relations Committee and ex officio member of the Executive Committee for the 2007 BIO International Convention.

Unanimously confirmed by the Senate in 2007, Ben Sasse oversees policy and legislative development, research, strategic planning, economic analysis, and policy coordination for the Department, with a special focus on the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the FDA. He is on leave from a public policy professorship at the Lyndon B. Johnson School at The University of Texas. Previously, he was chief of staff to US Congressman Jeff Fortenberry (Nebraska) and US Assistant Attorney General Daniel Bryant.  He began his career with the Boston Consulting Group. He was educated at Harvard, Oxford, and St. John's (Annapolis) before receiving his PhD from Yale.

Roy Schoenberg serves as American Well Systems' CEO and is the inventor of the American Well™ concept. Previously, he was the inventor and founder of CareKey Inc., a software vendor offering electronic health management systems. He continued to serve as Senior Vice President and Chief Internet Solutions Officer at Trizetto (NASDAQ:TZIX), following its acquisition of CareKey in 2005. He has written numerous books and publications on Medical Informatics, many published during his work at the Center for Clinical Computing at Harvard's Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital. He holds an MD from the Hebrew University Medical School and an MPH in Healthcare Management from Harvard University.

Phillip Sharp received the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1993 for his landmark work on the molecular biology of gene expression relevant to cancer and the mechanisms of RNA splicing. He earned a BA degree from Union College, KY, and a PhD in chemistry from the University of Illinois. He is a co-founder of Biogen (now Biogen Idec) and Alnylam and serves on the boards of both companies.

She is a board member at Silicon Valley’s Tech Museum, an advisor to the IOM, a Presidents’ Council member of the National Academies, an Advisory Council member at The Gladstone, and a Henry Crown Fellow at the Aspen Institute. Business Development for Artisan Pharma, Inc., a Phase III, Boston-based
biotech start-up. Prior to Artisan Pharma, Inc., he was a Principal at
Apeiron Partners, a Boston-based health-industry investment bank and
venture capital fund. Mr. Wardell also has worked on Wall Street, where
he participated in over $20 billion worth of M&A and financing
transactions at Citigroup (Salomon Smith Barney) in the healthcare,
technology, and industrial sectors. He holds an MBA from Harvard
Business School, an MPhil in Economics from Cambridge University, and a
BA from Harvard College.

Tony L. White became Chairman of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer of The Perkin-Elmer Corporation in 1995 and transformed that company, now Applied Biosystems Inc., into a global life sciences leader. He plans to retire upon the merger of Applied Biosystems with Invitrogen Corporation, which is expected to close during fall 2008. Prior to joining Perkin-Elmer, he was Executive Vice President and a member of the Office of the Chief Executive at Baxter International, Inc. Previously, he held a number of management positions both in U.S. and internationally during a 26-year career at Baxter. He serves on the Boards of Directors of C.R. Bard, Inc., Ingersoll-Rand Company Ltd., and SPRING Singapore. He graduated from Western Carolina University.
